G-33 Arquitectos is a prestigious architectural practice founded in Valladolid by the renowned architect Gregorio Alarcia Estévez, who passed away in 2022. Since its inception, G-33 has stood out for its commitment to excellence in architectural design and its focus on sustainability, leaving a significant mark on the local architectural landscape. With a track record ranging from residential and commercial buildings to public and cultural spaces, the firm has demonstrated a remarkable ability to adapt to different scales and contexts, always maintaining its focus on architectural quality and innovation.
In fact, one of the cornerstones of G-33's philosophy is sustainability. Since its inception, the studio has embraced the challenge of designing environmentally friendly and socially responsible buildings. Its commitment to sustainability is reflected in the use of technologies that contribute to maximum control in the development of the project, together with the use of materials with a low carbon footprint and bioclimatic design strategies. All with the aim of minimising the environmental impact of its works.
Among the main projects of G-33 Arquitectos is Nolita by Kronos Homes, a large residential development designed in collaboration with Óscar Miguel Ares and his studio Contextos de Arquitectura. Spacious homes, with outdoor spaces and complete community facilities, whose quality has earned it the first BREEAM sustainability seal in Valladolid. BREEAM certification is an international recognition that evaluates the sustainability of buildings in different aspects, such as water management, energy efficiency, use of materials, accessibility and integration with the environment. A clear example of G-33's commitment to sustainability and responsible construction.
A new approach while maintaining its spatial and social cohesion function. A different use with the same purpose.
From the hands and imagination of Souto de Moura has come our project The One. A modern residential complex that is integrated into the Avenida de João XXI in Lisbon. A neighbourhood of art deco buildings, among which The One stands out without interfering. Its simple façade leaves the structural framework in the foreground and the homes open onto the street through huge windows. A project where every detail is designed to increase the quality of life of the residents. From the smallest piece, to the very concept of the building and its relationship with its surroundings. Something that is only within the reach of the greatest architects.
True to its philosophy of working with the best professionals wherever it develops its property developments, Kronos Homes has entrusted one of its projects to G-33 Estudio de Arquitectura y Urbanismo. This is a benchmark firm in Valladolid, where it has its headquarters, and the autonomous community of Castilla y León, geographical areas in which it has carried out most of its work.
G-33 Arquitectura was founded in 1995. And in its almost 30 years of experience it has carried out more than 1,500 projects for private developers such as Kronos Homes and public administrations. It is a multidisciplinary team, made up of more than 15 highly trained and experienced technicians, capable of working on both small and large-scale projects.
Regardless of the work commissioned, the studio has always stood out for its close relationship with clients, accompanying them at every stage of development with the aim of achieving the design best suited to their needs. In this sense, its services cover all phases of an architectural project:
Among the most common works carried out by the Valladolid-based company are those related to buildings and single-family homes, renovations, interior refurbishments, commercial premises, offices, projects for the hotel sector, advice on town planning and planning permissions, etc.
Likewise, as a result of its concern for sustainability, the firm has contributed to the launch of the Innovative Business Group for Efficient Construction (AEICE). And in 2017 it was admitted as a partner of Smartcity Valladolid and Palencia, an initiative whose aim is to promote proposals related to smart cities.
G-33 Arquitectura y Urbanismo was launched thanks to the entrepreneurial vision of Gregorio Alarcia Estévez, who passed away in 2022, and Francisco Javier Olmedo Díez. In the case of the former, he was always the visible face of the studio and the person in charge of dealing with the media.
In an interview with the channel Construcción Reportaje, Alarcia Estévez explained the beginnings of the studio. "At the beginning of the 1990s, architects started out because there was no other way out: either you set up your own office or you had to take the civil service exams to become a civil servant. And most of us opted for the first alternative," he recalled.
"Nowadays it is unthinkable that anyone would dare to implement, individually, all the activities that an architect can carry out. He or she must be part of a team. That is why our firm's staff includes architects, quantity surveyors, technicians, industrial engineers, economists, administrative staff... Today, all these professionals are necessary in a firm dedicated to architecture and urban planning", he reasoned.
In an AEICE video, the architect showed his desire to apply his experience to the creation of 21st century cities that "are good for the users and economically attractive for the developer". Cities that are designed for people and integrated into nature. And whose design cannot be conceived without the use of the most modern tools.
In this respect, G-33 has paid special attention to R&D&I based on methodologies and trends such as:
This interest in respect for the environment has resulted in awards such as a runner-up prize in the Sustainable Construction Awards of Castilla y León.
As mentioned above, G-33's portfolio ranges from housing to urban planning licences. Currently, the firm provides the following services:
In particular, G-33's projects have materialised in Valladolid and other provinces of Castilla y León. Among the most recent, the studio has selected the following building projects:
Similarly, its catalogue includes a series of urban development projects in towns in Castilla y León:
Among this wide and diverse production is Nolita, a real estate project by Kronos Homes consisting of high-rise and single-family homes located in El Peral, one of the best areas of Valladolid and characterised by its respect for the environment and optimum energy efficiency. Proof of this is that it has been the first to obtain the Breeam certificate in the city of Castilla y León.
The result of a collaboration between Kronos Homes, G-33 and Óscar Miguel Ares, Nolita has characteristics that make it a perfect option for those who wish to live in a quality, comfortable and sustainable residential development:
During the presentation of Nolita, the late Gregorio Alarcia Estévez expressed his satisfaction at collaborating with the developer headed by Saïd Hejal: "Kronos Homes looks for light and gives you the freedom to make each building unique. That is the differential value compared to other projects", he emphasised.
