In 2017, RCR Arquitects won the Pritzker Prize and its founders became the second Spanish architects to do so and the largest group to win the prize to date. A universal vocation understood from a local perspective, with maximum respect for traditional architecture and its integration into the landscape. This is something that they captured to perfection in our Palmares project, a Kronos Homes resort that perfectly represents the philosophy that took Rafael Aranda, Carme Pigem and Ramón Vilalta to the Olympus of architecture.
When it comes to designing a project, the architects at RCR carry out a thorough preliminary study of the land. Not only from a technical point of view, with its topographical measurements, climatic conditions, regulations... but also and above all from an emotional perspective. A recognition through the senses that takes them to the essence of vernacular architecture, its colours, materials, vegetation and geology, always with an intention of personal discovery that they capture in the only way possible: through works of art. Because RCR's project studies are true works of art, as much for their technique as for their expressive capacity. Watercolours, gouaches and pencil drawings that capture the soul of the place where the project will be located.
And precisely with this value of fusion between architecture and art, we decided to install a large format painting by RCR in our The Kube project, designed by DNA Barcelona Architects in Tarragona. RCR's spectacular work occupies a prominent place in the lobby of the building and has already become an element of identity for all residents. An action with which we want to recover the custom of including a work of art as part of the common areas, so common during the second half of the 20th century in prestigious residential projects.
